
Our Collaboration with SWA
We worked closely with the Somali Women Association (SWA) to strengthen their Finance and Procurement systems, as well as to design and develop their annual report. Our engagement covered several critical areas aimed at improving operational efficiency, transparency, and organizational capacity. Specifically, we delivered:
Financial System Development:
We designed and implemented a comprehensive financial management system tailored to SWA’s specific needs. This system improved financial planning, expenditure tracking, reporting accuracy, and compliance with donor requirements, ultimately enhancing accountability and transparency within the organization.
Procurement System Development:
We developed a user-friendly procurement system to standardize and streamline SWA’s procurement processes, including vendor selection, competitive bidding, contract management, and compliance monitoring. This system reduced operational risks and strengthened SWA’s ability to deliver on its projects efficiently.
Contracts and Minutes Preparation:
We supported SWA in drafting and organizing contracts with vendors, partners, and service providers, as well as preparing and maintaining detailed meeting minutes. This improved SWA’s record-keeping, institutional memory, and ensured critical decisions were well documented and followed up.
Budget Coding System:
We introduced a budget coding framework that allowed SWA to categorize income and expenditures by project, donor, and activity. This system improved financial oversight, enhanced reporting capabilities, and allowed the leadership team to make more informed budgetary decisions.
Training and Capacity Building:
We provided tailored training and capacity-building workshops for SWA staff covering financial management, procurement procedures, donor compliance, internal controls, and the use of the new systems. This strengthened the team’s technical knowledge and enhanced their ability to independently manage finances and procurement in the long term.
Design and Development of Annual Report:
We worked with SWA’s leadership and communications team to conceptualize, design, and develop their annual report. This included crafting compelling program narratives, producing visual infographics, presenting financial data clearly, and highlighting key achievements and impact stories. The final report effectively communicated SWA’s mission, successes, and challenges, and was designed as an important tool for engaging stakeholders, donors, and the wider community.
